9ENG: Quotes and titles

1. QUOTING
When referring to someone else's words, use quotation marks only if you are repeating their exact words. Do not use italic text. Use a comma (,) or a colon (:) before a quote. Make sure you begin quotes with capitals. Here is an example of these things:
The Friar advises Romeo, "Wisely and slow; they stumble that run fast".
If you are paraphrasing a quote, then simply write your own words without quotation marks, like this:
The Friar tells Romeo that people who run will trip over.

2. USING TITLES
When you refer to a book, film or play in your written work, you must indicate this by the way you write the title of the text. Do this in one of the following ways:
Luhrmann's film Romeo and Juliet (italicised text)

Luhrmann's film "Romeo and Juliet" (quotation marks)
Alternatively, you may underline the title. Make sure you only use just one of these methods, not "a combination".
